Adult Counseling Services
Emotional well-being is just as important to us as breathing. Well-being is a journey. It does not matter how slow you go; just do not stop. The Center for Innovative Care provides high-quality virtual and in-person counseling to address various mental health issues. We offer a path towards healing, wellness, and wholeness through a multi-disciplinary team approach, including combining evidence-based therapeutic interventions with medication management, as necessary.
When should I begin adult therapy?
Though there are signs and indicators when you may need therapy, starting therapy or going to therapy is a personal decision. There are no hard and fast rules about when is the right time.
- If you need support and motivations to cope with mental health conditions, the benefits of therapy last longer than medication alone. Medication can reduce some symptoms of mental health conditions, but therapy teaches people skills to address symptoms on their own, and these skills will stay with you until long after therapy ends.
- You do not need to have depression or a mental illness to start therapy. Maybe you just go around feeling something is not quite right. Maybe you are not as happy as you once were or find yourself feeling nervous or anxious. In this case, talking to a therapist about a personal issue can be easier than talking to someone you have an emotional connection with. Therapists also have a deeper understanding of human nature, wellness, wholeness, and more, and can work with you to move beyond the current situation.
- You do not need to be in distress to start counseling. If you are ready and open to change, you can utilize therapy to increase your overall satisfaction with life. It is more about understanding yourself and learning how to cope with these issues: relationship dissatisfaction, uncertainty over the future, transitioning from one situation to another, etc.
More and more people are seeing therapist as a tool which is no different than going to the dentist or doctor to stay healthy or get help with a specific problem.

Experiential Therapy: Let us get active!
Experiential therapy is an umbrella term that applies to a range of action- and movement-based forms of psychotherapy. During experiential therapy sessions, clients have the opportunity to experience successes, identify obstacles, develop improved self-esteem, and take greater responsibility for their actions. After the experiential therapeutic activity, they have the opportunity to process their emotions and receive specific feedback based upon their decisions, actions, and reactions.
Bouldering Psychotherapy (BPT) combines action-oriented elements of bouldering (climbing on short outdoor boulders or artificial climbing walls without a rope or harness) with psychotherapeutic interventions, including cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness as well as relaxation exercises.
Ecotherapy, also called nature therapy or green therapy, is the practice of being in nature to improve psychological and physiological health.
Recreational therapy, also known as therapeutic recreation, is a systematic process that utilizes recreation and other activity-based interventions to address the assessed needs of individuals with illnesses and/or disabling conditions, as a means to psychological and physical health, recovery and well-being.
Destruction therapy, also known as rage therapy or smash therapy, offers a unique and effective way to let out frustrations and stress in a controlled environment. This form of therapy allows individuals to physically manifest their emotions, providing a sense of release and empowerment.
Animal-assisted therapy is an alternative or complementary type of therapy that includes the use of animals in a treatment. The goal of this animal-assisted intervention is to improve a patient's social, emotional, or cognitive functioning.
Through individual and group activities, wilderness therapy helps participants develop self-confidence, communication and relationship-building skills, and trust. Being outdoors for this extended period of time also promotes participants' physical health.
What Conditions/Disorders Does Experiential Therapy Treat?
Experiential therapy has been an effective component of comprehensive treatment programs for individuals who are struggling with a range of issues and disorders.
Experiential therapy has been successfully integrated into treatment programs for adults and teens who are receiving treatment for alcohol, chemical dependency, mood disorders, eating disorders, bipolar disorder, and a host of other related conditions.
